Tansel Korkmaz was born in Ankara in 1963. he completed his undergraduate education at METU Department of Architecture in 1986, his master’s degree in 1989 with his thesis titled “Urban Architecture as an Architecture of Urban Public Realm” and his doctorate in 1998 with his thesis titled “On the (Re)construction of the Modern(s) Within the Historiography of Architecture”. he worked as a research assistant at METU between 1987 and 1993; he became an associate professor in 2006. he took part in the founding team of Bilgi University Architecture Graduate Program, which started its education in 2005 and where Ihsan Bilgin was the program director. he assumed responsibility for the preparation of the curriculum and the formation of the faculty staff as the acting dean at the Faculty of Architecture, which was established in 2009, and worked as a lecturer.
Since 1996, he has published many publications consisting of his articles on architectural styles, urbanization, and recent architecture, as well as interviews with architects and their projects. He is also the author of the book Architecture in Turkey in the 2000s, which describes the development of architecture in Turkey after the 1980s. Korkmaz, who has participated in conferences and seminars at various universities, workshops at home and abroad, continues his studies at the Department of Interior Architecture of Istanbul Kent University.
